iSocUSB Driver

iSocUSB Driver Developer: Intel Corporation (2012)

Description:
The iSocUSB Driver is a Windows device driver from Intel that enables reliable USB communication with Intel system-on-chip (SoC)–based devices while they are in low-level download or recovery modes (often referred to as DNX/SoC mode). It is primarily used during firmware flashing, device recovery, manufacturing, and board bring-up, when the device does not present standard interfaces like ADB or MTP. The driver allows Intel development and service tools—such as Intel’s platform flash utilities and various OEM flashing applications—to detect the device and transfer boot loaders, firmware images, and related components over USB.

Key points:

• Purpose-built for Intel SoC platforms to support pre-boot, recovery, and manufacturing workflows.
• Integrates with Intel and OEM flashing tools to enumerate devices that appear only in special download modes.
• Intended for developers, service technicians, and OEMs rather than general end users.
• Requires administrative privileges to install and may be bundled within Intel flashing tool packages.
• Legacy software; availability and support may be limited, and newer platforms may use different drivers or tools.

Notes:

• This is not a general-purpose USB driver and is not required for standard device operation, file transfer, or ADB.
• For best results, obtain the driver from official Intel or OEM distributions that match your specific device and tooling.
